
The Mahindra Thar OG made its official appearance in India on September 22 and is currently available for booking across all authorized dealerships. The entry-level AXT diesel manual RWD variant is launched at an introductory price of ₹10.32 lakh (ex-showroom), while the upper-spec ZXT 4WD automatic trim goes up to ₹18.99 lakh. The Thar OG emerges as the modernized version of the iconic 3-door Thar, targeting lifestyle buyers and off-road enthusiasts looking for a rugged SUV with enhanced everyday drivability.
Mahindra & Mahindra has rolled out the Thar OG across three distinct trim levels: AXT, LXT, and ZXT. Buyers can now book their preferred OG model and variant. Pan-India customer deliveries will kick off from October 11 onwards. The Mahindra Thar OG is set to compete with Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha in the sub-4-meter off-road segment.

The all-new Thar OG comes with three powertrain options: a 1.5-litre mHawk Diesel (RWD) producing 117 bhp & 300 Nm, 2-litre mStallion Turbo-Petrol delivering 160 bhp & 320 Nm, and a 2.2-litre mHawk Turbo-Diesel producing 150 bhp & 330 Nm.
While the entry-level 1.5-litre diesel engine is strictly paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, the 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engines offer a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, depending on the drivetrain.
