  Base trim's range and missing cruise control disappoint on the highway

  Took the Sierra EV on a Delhi-Chandigarh trip expecting the claimed range to hold up better than it did. Real-world range with AC running through Delhi's heat came in noticeably under the claimed figure on my 63kWh 2WD variant, closer to 420km rather than the 535km claim, still decent but not what I'd budgeted for. The accelerator's dead zone followed by an abrupt torque surge made smooth highway merging trickier than it should be. Adaptive cruise isn't available on this lower trim, which made the long stretch more tiring than expected. Solid car, just don't buy the base trim if long highway trips are your priority.

  Great car, but the price gave us real pause

  Picked the Sierra EV mainly for the safety rating, and while it delivers there, the price genuinely gave us pause. At nearly ₹22 lakh for a well-equipped variant, it's a serious step up from more affordable family EVs we test drove. Boot space and cabin room are genuinely excellent for our needs around Kolkata. Real-world range with AC on through the city's humid traffic came in comfortably above 350km on the 63kWh version. The accelerator's dead-zone-then-surge feel took some adjustment for my spouse, who found it jerky in traffic initially. Good car overall, just make sure the price fits your budget before committing.

  Most road-trip-capable Tata EV I've driven

  Did a Jaipur-Udaipur trip on the Sierra EV 75kWh AWD and it handled the distance impressively. The claimed 624km range on this dual-motor variant translated to a genuinely usable real-world figure with AC running, and I only needed one DC fast-charging stop of about 26 minutes on the way. Adaptive cruise with stop-and-go made the highway stretches genuinely relaxed. Boot space easily took our luggage for the whole trip. Cabin comfort held up well over the 5-hour drive. For an EV built for distance, this genuinely delivers, easily the most road-trip-capable Tata EV I've driven.

  The most fun Tata has ever built

  The Sierra EV AWD is the most fun Tata has ever built, in my opinion. Instant 504Nm torque and the 5.8-second 0-100 time make it feel properly quick, and the dual-motor setup handles corners with genuine confidence for an SUV this size. The 12.3-inch touchscreen (triple-screen on my Empowered A trim) and JBL Dolby Atmos sound system add to the premium feel. Panoramic sunroof and adaptive cruise with stop-and-go make it comfortable too, not just quick. Only wish the throttle response off the line was a touch more linear. Genuinely the EV I'd recommend to anyone who actually enjoys driving.
