  Great car, but range gap and service cadence disappoint

  Took the Harrier EV on a Jaipur-Jodhpur trip and while the car itself performed well, the ownership experience around it has been frustrating. Real-world highway range with AC on dropped closer to 350-370km against the claimed 538km, which meant an unplanned charging stop that ate into travel time. Service intervals are every 6 months or 7,500km, more frequent than I expected for a modern EV, and our nearest service centre has been slow to schedule appointments. The drive itself is comfortable and quiet at least, and cruise control helped on the flat stretches. Great car, but the range gap and service cadence need real improvement.

  A proper step up from our old diesel SUV

  The Harrier EV has replaced our diesel SUV for family duty around Delhi and the transition has been smoother than expected. Cabin comfort is excellent for longer drives, and the panoramic sunroof and premium interior make every trip feel special for the kids. Safety credentials with 6 airbags, ESP and hill descent control gave us real confidence. Boot space is generous, though I've read it's a bit less than the diesel Harrier due to the battery placement. Charging costs are a fraction of what we used to spend on diesel. Build quality feels genuinely premium, a proper step up for Tata.

  Handled a long highway trip impressively well

  Did an Ahmedabad-Udaipur round trip in the Harrier EV and it handled the distance impressively well. Cruise control made the highway stretches genuinely relaxed, and DC fast charging at a highway stop topped up 20-80% in around 25 minutes while we grabbed lunch. Real-world range with AC on and highway speeds settled around 400km, a bit under the claimed 538km but still very usable with basic planning. The 502-litre boot plus frunk easily swallowed all our luggage. Cabin stayed comfortable through the whole drive. For a long-distance EV road trip, this genuinely delivered.

  Competent and fast, not quite as engaging as hoped

  The Harrier EV AWD is undeniably quick and well equipped, but the driving experience itself feels more competent than thrilling around Chennai. Performance from the dual motors is strong in a straight line, but the regenerative braking calibration took real getting used to and still feels inconsistent at low speeds in traffic. The terrain modes are a nice touch even if I rarely need them in the city. Build quality feels solid, and the tech on board, wireless CarPlay, the big screen, is genuinely impressive. Competent and fast, just not quite as engaging to drive as I'd hoped.
