Genuine composure on a longer highway run
Took the Tiguan R-Line on an Ahmedabad-Udaipur run and it handled highway duty with genuine composure. The 2.0 TSI has strong mid-range punch, making overtaking on two-lane highways stress-free, and adaptive cruise control eased a long stretch of monotonous driving. Ground clearance at 176mm handled a few rough patches without any drama. Boot space handled our bags easily, and the cabin stayed comfortable for hours. Cabin noise does pick up at higher speeds, but overall this is a properly capable road-trip SUV.

Excellent family SUV, just pricier than most
The Tiguan R-Line has worked out brilliantly as our family's SUV around Hyderabad. Boot space at 652 litres swallows our luggage for trips without any compromise. Safety features and 9 airbags gave my parents real confidence riding along. The cabin feels properly premium for family trips, and the 60-litre tank means fewer fuel stops on longer drives. Only real downside for a family car is the firm ride over rougher city roads, which the kids notice on speed breakers. Otherwise, a genuinely excellent family SUV, just pricier than most.

A properly capable long-distance cruiser
Did a Jaipur-Udaipur trip on the Tiguan R-Line and it turned out to be a genuinely excellent road-trip SUV. Adaptive cruise control made the highway stretches properly relaxing, and the 320Nm of torque made overtaking effortless. The 60-litre tank meant fewer fuel stops than I'd budgeted for. Boot space easily took our luggage for the whole trip. Cabin comfort held up brilliantly over the multi-hour drive, helped by the massage seats. 9 airbags gave real confidence at highway speeds. A properly capable long-distance cruiser.

The Tiguan R-Line is a genuinely engaging SUV to drive, not just a badge exercise. 201bhp and 320Nm from the 2.0 TSI pull hard, and the 7-speed DSG shifts crisply when you're pushing it around Bengaluru's outer roads. Handling feels planted despite the SUV's weight, genuinely impressive body control through corners. The panoramic sunroof and massage seats add to a genuinely premium feel. Ride does get firm over harsh bumps, but that firmness pays off in how composed it feels at speed. A proper enthusiast's SUV.
