  Decent family SUV, but comfort features fall short

  The Taigun has been decent for family use around Delhi, though a few things keep it from being ideal. No sunroof or ventilated seats feels like a genuine miss at this price, especially in Delhi's summer heat. Rear seat adjustment is limited to just the headrest, which isn't great for longer family trips. Safety is a genuine strength though, 6 airbags and the 5-star NCAP rating give real confidence. Boot space is generous and the 385-litre capacity handles our needs well. After-sales service has also been more expensive than I expected coming from a domestic brand. A safe, decent family SUV with real gaps in comfort features.

  Capable on the highway, wish it had cruise control

  Took the Taigun on an Ahmedabad-Udaipur trip and while it handled the distance capably, the lack of cruise control on my trim made the flat highway stretches more tiring than they needed to be. The 50-litre tank meant fewer fuel stops, and highway mileage improved to around 17-18kmpl. Manual tilt and telescopic steering helped dial in a comfortable driving position. Rear drum brakes rather than discs all round feels like a slight compromise for a car in this segment. Cabin stayed comfortable through the drive. A capable long-distance SUV, just wish convenience features matched the safety credentials.

  Window fault and slow service made ownership frustrating

  Took delivery of the Taigun expecting a trouble-free European experience and it's been more frustrating than that around Jaipur. The driver's side window developed an intermittent fault a few months in, not closing properly, and the service centre has been waiting on a software fix with no clear timeline. The stock tyres also feel noisy and harsh over rough patches, with visible wear showing earlier than expected. Build quality elsewhere feels solid, and safety credentials are genuinely strong. After-sales service has been the real letdown though, slow response and higher costs than I budgeted for. Disappointing ownership experience so far.

  Engaging manual drive with properly European build

  The Taigun 1.0 TSI manual has been a genuinely engaging companion around Mumbai when traffic allows. 114bhp and 178Nm of torque available low down make the electronic diff lock genuinely useful through tighter corners. The 6-speed manual rewards involved driving, precise and mechanical in a way few rivals match. Build quality feels a cut above, properly European in fit and finish. Safety is strong with 6 airbags and the 5-star NCAP rating. No sunroof or keyless entry feels basic for this price point, but the driving experience more than makes up for it.
